About

Eric first started hanging lights for a large Boulder-based Christmas lights company in 2013. This seasonal work helped in supplementing his income while working seasonally as an outdoor educator.

Eric Crosby is from the foothills of Western North Carolina, where he was introduced to outdoor pursuits as a teenager. Searching for a different route in life, he sought out and attended the National Outdoor Leadership School in lieu of his last semester of high school. This program introduced a new world to him, instilling a deep appreciation for education through outdoor pursuits and stewardship of our natural environments.

With a new perspective on the world and the gratitude of the positive, life changing experience he had as a student, Eric started attending the Colorado Mountain College’s Outdoor Recreation & Leadership program in Leadville, CO, in 2008.

After college, Eric went on to be an instructor and staff trainer for a YMCA program, BOLD & GOLD (Boys and Girls outdoor leadership development) Mountain school. He spent five years at this program whose mission statement is “To create emotionally intelligent, multicultural diverse leaders through experiential outdoor pursuits.”

Eric then went on to teach at the Colorado Outward Bound School for 4 years. This program also focuses on harnessing the potential of youth through backpacking, mountaineering, skiing, and rock climbing courses.

In 2015, Eric and some fellow CMC graduates participated in a fundraising event for Paradox sports based in Boulder, Colorado. Paradox brings awareness and facilitates outdoor experiences for people with physical limitations.

He has since left his former career to pursue a different sense of community and stability, calling Boulder his home since 2018.

During the rest of the year catch him around working on some sprinklers, a fence or interior finish carpentry at Boulder Lawn & Garden – Sustainable irrigation solutions and intentional landscape design.
